Professor Gao is a Professor at Middlesex University, UK, and a leading scholar in the global field of medical Artificial Intelligence (AI). Her academic authority is evidenced by a portfolio of high-impact publications in prestigious journals, including Information Fusion (2023, IF 17.564), Cell Reports Medicine (2023, IF 16.988), Medical Image Analysis (2021, IF 8.79), and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (2023, IF 7.5).
She collaborates with elite scientific teams from world-class institutions such as the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and the University of Warwick, conducting joint research projects funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and Asthma+Lung UK.
Professor Gao plays a leadership role in translating research into global education, actively promoting educational equity through diversity policies and inclusive initiatives. As Principal Investigator (PI), she manages British Council-funded projects including the "Women in STEM Masters Scholarship," "Women in STEM Academic Fellowship," and "Early Career Research Fellowship." She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
