Professor Minchen Wei is Director of the Qianhai Frontier Technology Innovation Center and the Research Centre for Colour, Imaging, and Metaverse at PolyU, and a National Excellent Young Scientists Fund recipient. A graduate of Fudan University (2009) and Penn State (PhD, 2015), he joined PolyU in 2015. His research on color science, lighting, and metaverse imaging (AR/VR/MR) is funded by RGC, NSFC, HKSAR, and industry leaders including Meta, Google, Huawei, DJI, WSP, OPPO, and Opple.

He serves as CIE Vice President, CIE (HK) Chairman, National Representative for CIE Divisions 1 & 8, Editor-in-Chief of Color Research & Application, and Associate Editor for JOSA A, LEUKOS, and JSID. His honors include the Google Research Scholar Award (2021), PolyU Young Innovative Researcher and President’s Awards (2022), Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology Award (2023), and the SID Young Leader Award (2024).
