Professor Peter Hanselaer

Professor Peter Hanselaer is a Professor at KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven) and an internationally renowned scholar in the field of light science and lighting technology.

He currently serves as the Editor for Division 1 of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE), where he is deeply involved in the formulation and revision of international standards for photometry and colorimetry. He has also served as a Guest Editor for the journal Color Research and Application. As a principal investigator, he has led numerous major research projects in the Flanders region of Belgium and has published over 200 academic papers.

In 1997, with funding from the Flemish Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) and through extensive industry-academia collaboration, he founded the Light & Lighting Laboratory. The laboratory’s primary research areas include the spectroradiometric and photometric characterization of light sources and materials, secondary optical design, energy-efficient lighting technologies, and photovoltaic energy research.
