Professor Kaida Xiao

Professor Kaida Xiao is a Professor of Color and Imaging at the School of Design, University of Leeds, UK, where he serves as the Academic Leader of the Colour Technology Research Group—a core research pillar of the university.

As a leading figure in the international color community, Professor Xiao currently serves as the Director of CIE Division 1 (Vision and Colour) and the UK Representative for CIE Division 8 (Image Technology). He is also a Senior Editor for the journal Color Research and Application and Co-Chair of the CIE Joint Technical Committee JTC16 (D1/D8) on the "Validity of Chromatic Adaptation."

Professor Xiao specializes in skin color engineering and visuo-tactile perception. His work has led to significant breakthroughs in diverse fields including medicine, cosmetics, imaging, lighting, and display technology. His research is supported by funding from prestigious organizations and industry leaders such as the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, L'Oréal, Unilever, and Meta.
